Ladies' Night Out: 8.12.10

So glad you made it out for the Ladies' Night Out!  We missed those of you who were not able to come and understand that if you didn't makes it, it was probably because of your family or other priorities. Please don't feel the need to apologize... it's ok, there will be more! The ladies voted that we meet monthly. So with coordinating all the other dates on the Calendar... which by the way is down right near impossible... we will meet the second Thursday of every month at Fills' 7pm-8:30pm. So that we have more chances of you making it and better opportunities to get to know one another.

We discussed the importance of having a Sure Foundation. Our goal in life is to build a house for His name with your very life. It must be a home where He lives and dwells and where glory comes to His name. Every room of this house should reflect Christ's character and should be a tribute to all that He is, all that He has done, and all that He will accomplish in your life.
We looked and the importance put into building a foundation and the hard work involved paralleled with 1 Kings 5:13-17 as King Solomon gathered over 200,000 laborers to build the foundation of the temple. We looked at how God starts with large stones and begins the process of cutting the stones into a size that He can use. He might not be interested in the best childhood, the most talented, the best marriage, the strongest commitment to church - He is interested in value!Man looks at the outward appearance, but God looks at the heart ( 1 Samuel 16:7.) That's why the stones only began as large stones, but they were also costly stones.
If you want to lay a solid foundation for your heart, it's going to cost you, and the price will involve some pain. Cutting the great stones down to size is an incredibly painstaking process, but God loves you so much that He is willing to put forth the effort into you.God doesn't desire to hurt you - He desires to heal you. He doesn't take pleasure in this costly, painful process, but He does take pleasure when He can use you.
Cutting always makes a stone more beautiful by revealing its inner character, because the character and color of a stone are never revealed until the stone is cut. Just like God used the inability of my body to reproduce to reveal my inner character. I found that even in my disappointments of life, even in the tragedy of infertility, that I could still praise Him!  I found that His character never changed in the midst of my pain. God used the tragedy in my life in order to make me more useful. My foundation is so much stronger than it was before the 18 months of infertility. My foundation is also much more beautiful because the cutting of my desires revealed the beauty of His character!
It is the cutting of the stone that makes it sparkle, because when a stone is cut, it is able to reflect light. When we are cut and shaped by the circumstances and disappointments of life, we eventually will reflect His light. When a Christian goes through a time of cutting, the response should not be one of panic but rather one of expectation! A Christian should realize that on the other side of cutting are glory, strength, and growth!
So the question to ask with great importance is, "What, in my life, needs cutting in order to reflect His Glory?"Allow the Master Builder to shape and reshape and to cut and recut the great stones in your foundation. Allow Him to trim away the excess in you foundation because it will reveal the beauty of your inner character!
